Goat Simulator may be raw, unpolished and one-dimensional at the moment - and this may be enough for many people - but I can’t help but wonder “is this only the beginning for the little goat that could?”. Goat Simulator is a sandbox game, yes, but a matchbox sized one at that.įortunately this title has been made available for modding via the Steam Workshop, and I can’t help but hope that modders will come up with some bigger, and brighter challenges for this little guy.

It has been compared to an old-school skating game, except instead. You no longer have to fantasize about being a goat. Most of the time he’d just blunder around at ground level, but in a couple of instances he shot up, up, and away, revealing a quite lovely view over the town and the world beyond. Once strapped on, it allowed my goat to go sailing crazily up into the sky (totally out of control, as far as I could tell). The jetpack however made for the most chaotic fun. On one outing, my goat wound up wearing an automated ball-thrower in a frame around his body, while in another he somehow wound up with a neon halo and glowing eyes. The game has been compared by the developer to skateboarding games, but where the player controls a goat aimed at doing as much damage as possible around an open world map, without any other larger goals. There are some surprise ways to “outfit” your goat, depending on its interactions with the world. Goat Simulator is a third-person perspective action video game developed and published by Coffee Stain Studios.

Once you tire of the mindless destruction, there are a few other elements to the game, though these are pretty rudimentary. Goat Simulator is all about exploration and play, rather than achievement (in keeping with this, the world also resets once you quit and restart a new session).
